A Date with Serena Williams!

I am thinking about going to the U.S. Open Tennis tournament this year.  This started because I was watching Serena Williams play tennis and I decided  I want to go to the US Open.   A date with Serena Williams.   I’d like to see Serena play in person once in my life.  I regret not going to see Tiger Woods when I had the chance.

I regret not going to see Tiger Woods when I had the chance.

My home is in Orlando where Tiger played Bay Hill now the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.  I had tickets twice and did not go thinking I would have time to see him play later.  Now I could kick myself because he won the tournament 6 times and I never did go to see him live.  Well, now I have the chance to see Serena.  Serena is winning and going for the all-time Grand-Slam record.  It is possible that she may already have it by then. If so, I am still planning to go.  I want to see one of the greatest athletes play in person.  A date with Serena Williams.

Full disclosure, I am a tennis player.  Okay, full disclosure like most black men in the world, I am secretly in love with Serena.  Actually full disclosure, it’s not a secret!  Anyway, I would love the opportunity to see her prance around the court.  I mean play tennis.  No need to have anyone get a restraining order.

No need to get a Restraining Order!

No need to get a Restraining Order!

Because I am a tennis player I appreciate the placement of her serve.  The power of her groundstrokes.  The athleticism she covers the court.  The precision of her shots and the mental toughness she possesses in competing at the highest level.  As a man, I appreciate the tone of her body.  The style of her hair.  Her little waist.  Her full breasts and her onion.  If you are not familiar with that term an onion.  That is a booty you would cry over.  But like I said, no need for a restraining order.

The United States Tennis Open

I think this could really work out because the US Open is in Queens New York.  You know from this Blog that I love to travel.  Heck, I love New York.  The bright lights, the great shopping and the variety of food.  There is always something to do and I like to take a lot of pictures.  Just think about sightseeing.  There is the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the Empire State building.

New York City

Don’t get me started on the restaurants like Sylvia’s in Harlem if you like Soul food.  If you want Chinese, then what about Chinatown?  If you want Italian what about Little Italy?   The point is that you can find good food almost everywhere in New York. I have not even touched on the nightlife.   I am thinking the 40/40 Club, Katra or Taj II Lounge.  Now if you want something different the what about the Sky Room or the Attic?  I even want to take the carriage ride in Central Park.

New York, NY

New York, NY

I know we are a year away but I already know that it is the same time next year and I am planning for Labor Day Weekend, Friday, September 1- Monday, September 4th, 2017.  Labor Day weekend gives me 4 days to enjoy New York.  The plan would be to spend 1-2 days at the tournament and 2 days running around the City.  I have been to New York, but never to the US Open and I think that would be dope!  I would want to attend 1-day session and 1-night session.  That is as long as Serena is playing.  My goal would be to see Serena play.  Along with some of the other African American players.  I would not mind seeing Taylor Townsend, Sloane Stephens or Venus Williams as well.  One other thing I do want to see is Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Arthur Ashe Stadium

Arthur Ashe Stadium was opened in 1997.  It is the largest tennis-only stadium in the world.  The stadium seats 23,771.  It has 90 luxury suites, five restaurants, and a two-level players’ lounge, making it by far the largest tennis-only venue in the world.  It is named after one of my childhood hero’s Mr. Arthur Ashe.  Ashe has won 3 Grand Slam titles (Austrian Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open) in his career.  He won 18 tournament total and was the first Black Captain of the US Davis Cup Team.  Arthur played tennis at Charles Sumner High School in St. Louis, Missouri, my hometown and happens to be my Mother’s alma mater.   He played college tennis at UCLA and many people do not know he was a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army just like me.

I am thinking about going to the U.S. Open Tennis tournament next year.  A date with Serena Williams.  I want to scratch something else off my bucket list.  It has been 15 years since I have been to New York.  This will be a great way to spend Labor Day Weekend 2017.  I’m going to taking lots of pictures.  I am planning a date with Serena Williams for September 2017.  No need to get a restraining order.
